Mourinho: I never would have sold Di Maria & Chicharito

The Argentine and Mexican are two of several ex-United players that the Special One affirms he would have liked to see in his current squad

Jose Mourinho has admitted he would not have sold Angel Di Maria or Javier Hernandez had he been in charge earlier at Manchester United.
Di Maria arrived at Old Trafford to great fanfare in 2014, but despite some brilliant moments failed to settle under Louis van Gaal.
He moved on just a year later to Paris Saint-Germain, where he lifted Ligue 1 in his first season; and Mourinho rues his premature sale.
"When I first arrived, I found a sad club. Manchester United sold players that I never would have sold, and bought players I never would have bought," he explained to the BBC.
"I would never have sold Di Maria, Chicharito or Danny Welbeck, never, no chance."
The Special One also played down the importance of making the Champions League next season, arguing that United was a big enough club to attract top players regardless.
"I think Manchester United are a powerful club, I don't think Manchester United need to play in the Champions League to attract the best players," he said.
"Honestly last summer we got players that could be playing in the Champions League, Zlatan could be in Paris, [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan could be in Borussia [Dortmund], Paul [Pogba] could be in Juventus, we were able to attract those players because they know sooner or later Manchester United will get there.
"If any player decides they do not want to come because of that, I am glad he is not coming."
After seeing United's FA Cup bid collapse with defeat against Chelsea, Mourinho will now focus on the Europa League, which continues on Thursday with a last 16 second leg clash against Rostov.
The Red Devils drew in the opener in Russia, and know a goalless draw or win would see them through to the quarter finals.
