Bastian Schweinsteiger admits he didn’t even get to say goodbye to Man United team mates

Bastian Schweinsteiger has revealed he didn’t even get the chance to say goodbye to his Manchester United team-mates before signing for Chicago Fire.
The German midfielder’s move to the MLS was officially confirmed by the club on Wednesday afternoon and he has since been introduced by his new team.
His stay at Old Trafford ended last week after he signed a one-year contract for a salary said to be around £3.6million.
Speaking about his move, Schweinsteiger claimed he was so rushed that he didn’t even have the opportunity to say goodbye.
“It was not so easy because the decision was a bit late so I couldn’t say a proper goodbye to the team,” he said
.
“Also they had a match away against – I can’t remember – but they had a match on Sunday so I couldn’t really tell them because I didn’t want the focus on me, I wanted to have the focus on the team and the game. So I was very happy that they won.
“I had a great time there, especially with the team-mates and the staff there, it was a good time and I enjoyed it there.”
The way Bastian has handled everything from his exile, his hard work, his return and even his exit has been absolutely class and it’s honestly such a shame that it didn’t work out for him at Old Trafford.
He could make his debut for Chicago Fire this weekend as they face Montreal Impact at Toyota Park and hopes are he can continue to build on his impressive career.
