Buffon hails 'the best modern goalkeeper' Neuer

The Italy international says the German belongs in a category of his own when it comes to discussions about goalkeeping prowess
Gianluigi Buffon has heaped praise on Manuel Neuer, calling the Bayern Munich man one the greatest modern goalkeepers.
The Juventus goalkeeper, himself one of the position's all-time greats, was effusive in his praise of the 30-year-old shot-stopper.
"Grandissimo, simply great," Buffon told Kicker of the German international.
"[Neuer is] physically strong and confident. He gives his team calmness with his aura, is great with the ball on his feet and makes impossible saves."Neuer has pioneered the "sweeper-keeper" role, which he demonstrated most notably during Germany's run to the 2014 World Cup title.
Buffon, whose Juventus side will face Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals, said the five-time UEFA Goalkeeper of the Year belongs in a category of his own.
"He has his own era," Buffon said. "[Neuer is] the best one in the category 'modern 'keeper' for years."
