Everton full back Seamus Coleman has suffered a broken leg in the Republic of Ireland's draw with Wales yesterday evening.
Playing
out a scoreless draw on the evening in their World Cup qualifier, the
Irish captain was given oxygen whilst on the pitch during his treatment
by the medical staff and was eventually stretchered off and substituted
in the 72nd minute of the game.
The challenge was made by Aston Villa's Neil Taylor and he saw a straight red following the incident.
With
Coleman being taken to hospital, manager Martin O'Neill believed it had
been a break and a bad one at that and was quoted yesterday evening by evertonfc.com from his post game press conference as saying.
'It`s
a bad break. Seamus Coleman is a fantastic player and a fantastic
character and that`s a massive blow for the lad, himself obviously. It`s
a major blow for his club and a major blow for us. I`m disappointed.
He`s gone to hospital and I think it`s broken. I saw Seamus` reaction
immediately. He was holding his leg up and it didn`t look good.'
