Thugs attack Jamie Vardy's wife, accuse striker of influencing Ranieri's exit

Jamie Vardy has been a victim of death threats from fans after Claudio Ranieri was sacked

- Fans have repeatedly tried to chase his wife off the highway while she was driving

- The Englishman says he understands hatred towards himself but not to his family

Jamie Vardy says he and his family have been victim of sick death threats since Claudio Ranieri was sacked by the Leicester City management.

The England striker says his wife Rebekah has been physically threatened on the street and while driving her car, some individuals tried to run her off the road.

The 30-year-old Leicester forward however does not think fans of the Foxes are responsible for the outpouring of hatred towards himself and his family.

The Englishman says he has become a marked man on and off the pitch ever since Ranieri was sacked by the Foxes.

Leicester players were depicted as 'snakes' on social media soon after Ranieri was sacked.


Vardy was quoted as saying by the Sun: “Once that is out there people pick it up and jump on it and you’re getting death threats about your family, kids, everything.

“On social media, you name it – walking down the street. To be honest I get them (death threats) every week.

“Football fans don’t seem to like me that much. A lot of false accusations were being thrown out there and there’s nothing us, as players, could do about it.

“I just get on with it but when people are trying to cut your missus up while she’s driving along, with the kids in the back of the car, it’s not the best. It’s happened plenty of times.

“It’s terrifying.”

According to the player, abuse on social media can only be limited there as they could become physical in the real world: “All that can happen is they get banned on Twitter.

“People get cut up on the road but if there are no cameras, you’re screwed.”
