Manchester United are in ‘advanced talks’ with AS Roma midfielder

United shop in Rome
A long-forgotten transfer saga looks like it’s about to be resurrected. Manchester United are reportedly in advanced talks with AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, according to Dutch source

The Holland international’s representatives have been negotiating with United CEO Ed Woodward. The link has been revived after Strootman overcame injury hell that kept him out of the game for the best part of two years.

Now fully recovered, he’s played a crucial role in their strong Serie A campaign. They’re currently second in the table and on course to qualify for the Champions League having missed out on this season’s competition.

Price tag
United were in for Strootman back in 2013 when he was still with PSV Eindhoven but he opted to move to Italy.

Now, the 27-year-old might take the opportunity to succeed Michael Carrick in their midfield.

It’s estimated that it will cost United €40 million to sign Strootman. He only has one year left on his contract. Many fans will be hoping that Jose Mourinho enquires about Radja Nainggolan as well.

The Belgian has been in stunning form this season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions.
