Mourinho admits that Zlatan Ibrahimovic wasn’t rested, he was dropped

Tactical masterclass

Mourinho’s team selection shocked many ahead of kick-off, with key players Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both not in the starting eleven.
The Man United boss masterminded a brilliant 2-0 win over Conte’s side to finally get revenge for two losses against the Blues this season.
Mourinho’s side completely stifled Chelsea’s attack and dominated proceedings at Old Trafford.

Dropped?

Prior to kick-off, Jose cited tiredness as the reason for Ibra’s absence, but he changed his tune slightly after the Red Devils’ 2-0 win.

Ibrahimovic will almost certainly return to the line-up for the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Anderlecht on Thursday.
