Cristiano Ronaldo in danger of missing El Clasico v Barcelona

Cristiano Ronaldo walking a tightrope

It was a solid weekend for Real Madrid in La Liga, even if that didn’t appear to be the case after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Although Los Blancos dropped two points, Barcelona dropped all three as they lost 2-0 away at Malaga later in the evening.
The Catalans defeat was compounded by Neymar’s dismissal, and there are now fears the Brazilian will miss El Clasico in a fortnight.
There are similar fears Cristiano Ronaldo could miss the pivotal La Liga clash with Barca. After the Atletico game, the P
ortuguese star is carrying four yellow cards.
If he were to get booked in the upcoming game at Sporting Gijon next Saturday in La Liga he’d be out of El Clasico.

Mouthing off?

Spanish paper Sport are well known for having a Barcelona bias, and they have also trumpeted up another angle on Cristiano Ronaldo which could force him out of El Clasico.
Towards the end of the Madrid derby, Cristiano mouthed off in front of the referee after a decision went against Real.
Leo Messi was recently hit with a four game international ban for verbally abusing a referee, and Sport are questioning whether Ronaldo shouldn’t receive a similar punishment.
For what it’s worth, it doesn’t seem like that’s likely to happen.

Real Madrid’s crazy month

Real Madrid have one of the most hectic months of any of the super clubs in European football.
Zinedine Zidane’s side face Bayern Munich over two legs within six days of each other and also face Barcelona in El Clasico on April 23, 2017.
Pepe’s injury in the Madrid derby yesterday, two broken ribs, will likely see the Portugal defender miss the rest of the season.
And, Raphael Varane is also out of this string of big matches. The Real Madrid squad will be tested to the absolute limit.
